दिल्ली के पर्यावरण मंत्री गोपाल राय ने सोमवार को राष्ट्रीय राजधानी में हरियाली को और बढ़ाने के लिए 15 दिवसीय वृक्षारोपण अभियान की शुरुआत की। उन्होंने बताया कि सेंट्रल रिज से शुरू होकर वन महोत्सव 25 जुलाई को असोला भट्टी वन्यजीव अभयारण्य में एक लाख पौधे लगाने के साथ समाप्त होगा। इस साल दिल्ली में करीब 35 लाख पौधे लगाए जाएंगे। दिल्ली विधानसभा के अध्यक्ष राम निवास गोयल, उपमुख्यमंत्री मनीष सिसोदिया और अन्य मंत्री वन महोत्सव में हिस्सा लेंगे। विधानसभा के सदस्य (विधायक) सोमवार को अपने-अपने निर्वाचन क्षेत्रों में अभियान का नेतृत्व करेंगे। केंद्र ने दिल्ली सरकार को 2021-22 में 28 लाख पौधे लगाने का लक्ष्य दिया था, जबकि शहर में 35 लाख पौधे लगाए गए। फॉरेस्ट सर्वे ऑफ इंडिया की ताजा रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक पिछले दो वर्षों में दिल्ली का हरित क्षेत्र 21.88 प्रतिशत से बढ़कर 23.06 प्रतिशत हो गया है।
