नई दिल्ली। दिल्ली नगर निगम (एमसीडी) ने रविवार को उसके न्यायाधिकार क्षेत्र में आने वाले लोगों से अपने-अपने पालतू जानवरों का पंजीकरण कराने को कहा और ऐसा नहीं करने पर सख्त कार्रवाई की चेतावनी दी। नगर निकाय ने यह कदम शहर और आसपास के इलाकों में कुत्तों के लोगों को काटने की बढ़ती घटनाओं के बीच उठाया है। एमसीडी के पशु चिकित्सा विभाग के वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों ने बताया कि दिल्ली नगर निगम अधिनियम के तहत पालतू कुत्तों का पंजीकरण कराना अनिवार्य है, लेकिन लोग अपने जानवरों का पंजीकरण कराने के प्रति अनिच्छुक हैं।
नगर निकाय ने एक बयान जारी कर कहा, ”कुत्तों के काटने की बढ़ती घटनाओं के मद्देनजर एमसीडी नागरिकों से अपने कुत्तों का पंजीकरण का आह्वान करता है, जो दिल्ली नगर निगम अधिनियम-1957 की धारा-399 के तहत अनिवार्य है। यह धारा उन पालतू कुत्तों को सार्वजनिक स्थलों पर पाए जाने पर हिरासत में लेने का अधिकार देती है, जो नगर निगम में पंजीकृत नहीं हैं।
