भारतीय जनता पार्टी (BJP) के तीन सांसदों द्वारा कोरोना वायरस के प्रसार को लेकर चिंता जताए जाने का हवाला देते हुए केंद्रीय स्वास्थ्य मंत्री मनसुख मांडविया ने कांग्रेस नेता राहुल गांधी से अनुरोध किया कि अगर कोविड प्रोटोकॉल का पालन नहीं किया जा सकता तो वह ‘भारत जोड़ो यात्रा’ निलंबित करने पर विचार करें। गांधी और राजस्थान के मुख्यमंत्री अशोक गहलोत को मंगलवार को लिखे पत्र में मांडविया ने कहा कि राजस्थान के तीन सांसद पी पी चौधरी, निहाल चंद और देवजी पटेल ने चिंताएं व्यक्त की हैं और उनसे अनुरोध किया है कि मार्च के दौरान मास्क तथा सैनिटाइजर का इस्तेमाल करने समेत कोविड प्रोटोकॉल का सख्ती से पालन किया जाए और टीके की खुराक लेने वाले लोगों को ही पदयात्रा में भाग लेने की अनुमति दी जाए।
भारत जोड़ो यात्रा ने बुधवार को राजस्थान से हरियाणा में प्रवेश किया। सांसदों ने केंद्रीय मंत्री से यह सुनिश्चित करने का भी अनुरोध किया है कि मार्च में भाग लेने से पहले तथा बाद में, इसमें हिस्सा लेने वाले लोगों को पृथकवास में रखा जाए। मांडविया ने गांधी और गहलोत से राजस्थान में तीन सांसदों द्वारा किए गए अनुरोधों को ध्यान में रखते हुए तत्काल कार्रवाई करने का आग्रह किया है। तीन सांसदों के हस्ताक्षर वाले पत्र का हवाला देते हुए मांडविया ने कहा कि उन्होंने मांग की है कि अगर जन स्वास्थ्य को लेकर चिंताओं के मद्देनजर कोविड प्रोटोकॉल का पालन संभव नहीं है तो राष्ट्रीय हित में यात्रा निलंबित की जाए।
तीनों सांसदों ने 20 दिसंबर को लिखे अपने पत्र में इस बात का जिक्र किया है कि कैसे कोविड का खतरा ”बढ़” गया है क्योंकि दूसरे राज्यों से लोग मार्च में भाग लेने के लिए राजस्थान आ रहे हैं और उन्होंने दावा किया कि यात्रा में भाग लेने के बाद कई लोगों में संक्रमण के लक्षण दिखे हैं। सांसदों ने यह भी कहा कि भारत जोड़ो यात्रा में भाग लेने के बाद हिमाचल प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री सुखविंदर सिंह सुक्खू कोरोना वायरस से संक्रमित पाए गए। केंद्रीय मंत्री ने सांसदों द्वारा लिखा गया पत्र भी कांग्रेस नेताओं को भेजे पत्र के साथ संलग्न किया और उनसे इन सांसदों की चिंताओं पर गौर करने का अनुरोध किया है।
