आम आदमी पार्टी (आप) ने बुधवार को आरोप लगाया कि शुक्रवार को होने वाले महापौर पद के चुनाव से पहले दिल्ली नगर निगम (एमसीडी) के लिए मनोनीत किये गए 10 ‘एल्डरमेन’ भारतीय जनता पार्टी (भाजपा) के कार्यकर्ता हैं और एमसीडी ने उनके नाम दिल्ली सरकार को दरकिनार करते हुए सीधे उपराज्यपाल को भेज दिए। आप विधायक आतिशी ने एक संवाददाता सम्मेलन में कहा कि जिस तरह उपराज्यपाल को नाम भेजे गए, उसमें दिल्ली सरकार को दरकिनार किया गया। उन्होंने कहा कि उचित प्रक्रिया यह है कि सरकार उपराज्यपाल को नाम भेजती है।
‘एल्डरमेन’ उन लोगों को कहा जाता है जो अपने क्षेत्र में विशेषज्ञ होते हैं। हालांकि, महापौर चुनाव में उनके पास मतदान का अधिकार नहीं होता है। आतिशी ने कहा, ”मैं भाजपा से ये घटिया चालें रोकने का आग्रह करती हूं। सभी 10 ‘एल्डरमेन’ भाजपा कार्यकर्ता हैं। यह एमसीडी (दिल्ली नगर निगम) के काम को रोकने का एक प्रयास है। ये ‘एल्डरमैन’ विभिन्न समितियों का हिस्सा होंगे और एमसीडी के काम को बाधित करेंगे।
आतिशी ने कहा, भाजपा को आप को एमसीडी चलाने का मौका देकर जनादेश का सम्मान करना चाहिए। कृपया दिल्ली के फैसले का सम्मान करें। चार दिसंबर के निकाय चुनावों के बाद शुक्रवार को पहली बार निगम सदन आहूत किया जाएगा जब सभी नवनिर्वाचित पार्षद शपथ लेंगे और महापौर एवं उप महापौर चुने जाएंगे। दिल्ली सरकार ने मंगलवार को एक अधिसूचना जारी करके कहा कि उपराज्यपाल वी के सक्सेना द्वारा 10 सदस्यों को मनोनीत किया गया है।
