दिल्ली नगर निगम (एमसीडी) की योजना राष्ट्रीय राजधानी में हरित कचरा प्रबंधन केंद्रों की संख्या बढ़कार 52 करने की है ताकि आने वाले सालों में शत प्रतिशत जैविक कचरे को निस्तारित कर खाद में तब्दील किया जा सके। एक अधिकारी ने यह जानकारी दी। एमसीडी के अधिकारी ने बताया कि इससे खाद खरीदने की जरूरत भी खत्म करने में मदद मिलेगी, साथ ही वायु प्रदूषण को नियंत्रित करने और वैज्ञानिक तरीके से हरित कचरे को निस्तारित करने को प्रोत्साहन मिलेगा। हरित कचरा का अभिप्राय घास, पत्तियों, पेड़-पौधों की छोटी शाखाओं से है, जो सड़ जाते हैं।
अधिकारी के मुताबिक इस समय दिल्ली में 38 हरित कचरा प्रबंधन केंद्र कार्यरत हैं जो हर महीने औसतन 70 मीट्रिक टन खाद का उत्पादन करते हैं। उन्होंने बताया कि सबसे पहले दक्षिण दिल्ली नगर निगम ने हरित कचरे का प्रबंधन शुरू किया था। हालांकि, अब दक्षिण दिल्ली नगर निगम को उत्तरी दिल्ली नगर निगम और पूर्वी दिल्ली नगर निगम से मिलाकर एक निगम बना दिया गया है। अधिकारी ने बताया, गत कुछ वर्ष से दक्षिणी दिल्ली नगर निगम हरित कचरा प्रबंधन करती आई है। अब तीनों निगमों को मिलाकर एमसीडी बना दिया गया है और हम इसे पूरी दिल्ली में लागू करना चाहते हैं।
