कांग्रेस ने पार्टी नेता राहुल गांधी को मणिपुर में हिंसा से पीड़ित लोगों से मिलने और राहत शिविरों में जाने से रोके जाने की भर्त्सना करते हुए कहा है कि उन्हें केंद्र के इशारे पर पीड़ितों से नहीं मिलने दिया गया है। कांग्रेस प्रवक्ता सुप्रिया श्रीनेत ने गुरुवार को यहां पार्टी मुख्यालय में संवाददाता सम्मेलन में कहा कि राहुल गांधी को राहत शिविरों में जाने से रोकने को भाजपा की साजिश बताया और कहा कि उन्हें केंद्र के इशारे पर पीड़ितों से नहीं मिलने से रोका जा रहा है। उनका कहना था कि भाजपा मणिपुर मैं शांति बहाली के लिए कोई कदम उठाने को तैयार नहीं है और खुद प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी दो महीने से जारी हिंसा पर चुप्पी साधे हैं।
इस बीच कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष मल्लिकार्जुन खडगे ने गांधी को रोके जाने की निंदा करते हुए कहा मणिपुर में राहुल गांधी के काफिले को पुलिस ने विष्णुपुर के पास रोक दिया है। वह राहत शिविरों में पीड़ितों से मिलकर उनके घाव पर मरहम लगाने वहां जा रहे हैं। प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने मणिपुर पर अपनी चुप्पी तोड़ने की जहमत नहीं उठाई है और उन्होंने राज्य के लोगों को उनके हाल पर छोड़ दिया है। उनकी डबल इंजन सरकार विनाशकारी बन गई है और वह राहुल गांधी को रोकने के लिए निरंकुशता से पेश आ रही है। उसकी यह कार्रवाई लोकतांत्रिक मानदंडों को तोड़ती है जो असंवैधानिक है और पूरी तरह से अस्वीकार्य है। मणिपुर को शांति की जरूरत है, टकराव की नहीं।
कांग्रेस संचार विभाग के प्रभारी जयराम रमेश ने कहा यह बेहद दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण है कि मोदी सरकार राहुल गांधी को रिलीफ़ कैंप्स का दौरा करने और इंफाल के बाहर लोगों से बातचीत करने से रोक रही है। उनका दो दिन का मणिपुर दौरा भारत जोड़ो यात्रा की भावना के अनुरूप है। प्रधानमंत्री मणिपुर को लेकर न कुछ कहना और न ही कुछ करना चाहते हैं तो फिर मणिपुरी समाज के सभी वर्गों को सुनने और उनके दुःख दर्द को समझने के राहुल गांधी के प्रयासों को क्यों बाधित किया जा रहा है।
