वित्त मंत्री आतिशी द्वारा बजट को अंतिम रुप देने में देरी का हवाला दिए जाने के बाद बृहस्पतिवार को दिल्ली विधानसभा का बजट सत्र मार्च के पहले सप्ताह तक बढ़ा दिया गया और बजट को मंजूरी के लिए गृह मंत्रालय के पास भेज दिया गया। सत्र विस्तार संबंधी प्रस्ताव को विधानसभा ने मंजूरी दे दी। विपक्षी भारतीय जनता पार्टी (भाजपा) के विधायकों ने देरी के कारणों पर सवाल उठाया। आतिशी ने सदन में कहा कुछ कारणों से बजट को अंतिम रूप देने में कुछ देरी हो गई है। हमें कल दिल्ली के उपराज्यपाल से बजट के लिए मंजूरी मिली। इसे आज गृह मंत्रालय की मंजूरी के लिए भेजा गया है।
गृह मंत्रालय से मंजूरी और राष्ट्रपति की सहमति में कम से कम 10-15 दिन लगेंगे। उन्होंने कहा ”हमारे लिए 25 फरवरी से पहले बजट पेश करना संभव नहीं है। मैं अनुरोध करती हूं कि बजट सत्र को मार्च के पहले सप्ताह तक बढ़ा दिया जाए। भाजपा विधायकों ने देरी पर सवाल उठाए, जिसके जवाब में आतिशी ने कहा, यह देरी हमारी ओर से हुई है। हम किसी पर आरोप नहीं लगा रहे हैं। दिल्ली विधानसभा का बजट सत्र 15 फरवरी को शुरू हुआ था और इसका समापन 21 फरवरी को नियत था।
