केंद्र सरकार दिल्ली के तीन नगर निगमों के एकीकरण के लिए संसद के बजट सत्र में एक विधेयक लाने की योजना बना रही है। राज्य चुनाव आयोग ने बुधवार को नगर निकायों के चुनाव कार्यक्रम का ऐलान करने के दौरान यह जानकारी दी। इस मामले में ‘आप’ के संयोजक और दिल्ली के मुख्यमंत्री अरविंद केजरीवाल ने तीखी प्रतिक्रिया व्यक्त की है जिन्होंने आश्चर्य व्यक्त करते हुए कहा कि क्या प्रधानमंत्री अब देश में चुनाव नहीं कराएंगे।
एक बयान में आयोग ने कहा, ”उपराज्यपाल ने तीन नगर निगमों के एकीकरण के लिए संसद के चालू सत्र में विधेयक लाने की भारत सरकार की मंशा से आयोग को संचार के माध्यम से अवगत करा दिया है। आयोग ने कहा कि वह उक्त संचार की जांच कर रहा है, इसलिए बाद में चुनाव कार्यक्रम की घोषणा करने का निर्णय लिया गया। भाजपा के विरोध के बावजूद वर्ष 2012 में दिल्ली में कांग्रेस सरकार द्वारा पूर्ववर्ती एमसीडी को तीन नगर निकायों में विभाजित किया गया था।
