कांग्रेस ने मणिपुर में हिंसा भड़कने के लिए भारतीय जनता पार्टी की ‘सत्ता की भूख की राजनीति’ को जिम्मेदार ठहराते हुए बृहस्पतिवार को कहा कि प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी को पूर्वोत्तर के इस प्रदेश में शांति एवं सामान्य स्थिति बहाल करने पर ध्यान देना चाहिए। पार्टी अध्यक्ष मल्लिकार्जुन खरगे और पूर्व अध्यक्ष राहुल गांधी ने मणिपुर के लोगों से शांति और संयम बरतने की अपील भी की। खरगे ने ट्वीट किया, मणिपुर जल रहा है। भाजपा ने समुदायों के बीच दरार पैदा की और इस खूबसूरत राज्य की शांति को भंग कर दिया। उन्होंने आरोप लगाया, भाजपा की नफरत और विभाजन की राजनीति तथा सत्ता का लोभ इस समस्या के लिए जिम्मेदार है।
कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष ने कहा, हम सभी पक्षों के लोगों से संयम बरतने और शांति को एक मौका देने की अपील करते हैं। राहुल गांधी ने ट्वीट कर कहा, मणिपुर में तेजी से बिगड़ती कानून व्यवस्था की स्थिति को लेकर चिंतित हूं। प्रधानमंत्री को वहां शांति और सामान्य स्थिति बहाल करने पर ध्यान केंद्रित करना चाहिए। मैं मणिपुर के लोगों से भी शांति बनाए रखने का आग्रह करता हूं। कांग्रेस महासचिव जयराम रमेश ने ट्वीट किया, विधानसभा चुनाव में भाजपा को पूर्ण बहुमत मिला। चुनाव के 15 महीनों के बाद मणिपुर में डबल इंजन सरकार की वास्तविकता यह है कि प्रदेश में आग लग गई है। केंद्र सरकार चुप है। प्रधानमंत्री और गृह मंत्री कर्नाटक में चुनाव प्रचार करने में व्यस्त हैं।
उन्होंने दावा किया, मणिपुर के सभी वर्ग नाखुश हैं। वहां जनादेश के साथ विश्वासघात किया गया है। उल्लेखनीय है कि आदिवासी आंदोलन के दौरान हुई हिंसा को लेकर मणिपुर के आठ जिलों में बुधवार को कर्फ्यू लगा दिया गया और पूरे पूर्वोत्तर राज्य में मोबाइल इंटरनेट सेवाएं निलंबित कर दी गईं। मेइती समुदाय को अनुसूचित जनजाति (एसटी) की श्रेणी में शामिल करने की मांग का विरोध करने के लिए छात्रों के एक संगठन द्वारा आहूत ‘आदिवासी एकता मार्च’ में हिंसा भड़क गई थी।
