लोकसभा चुनाव से ठीक पहले कांग्रेस को आयकर विभाग से एक बार फिर नया नोटिस मिला, जिसके जरिये आकलन वर्ष 2014-15 से 2016-17 तक के लिए 1,745 करोड़ रुपये के कर की मांग की गई है। सूत्रों ने रविवार को यह जानकारी दी। आयकर विभाग द्वारा कांग्रेस से अब तक कुल कुल 3,567 करोड़ रुपये के कर की मांग की जा चुकी है। सूत्रों के मुताबिक, ताजा नोटिस 2014-15 (663 करोड़ रुपये), 2015-16 (करीब 664 करोड़ रुपये) और 2016-17 (करीब 417 करोड़ रुपये) से संबंधित हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि अधिकारियों ने राजनीतिक दलों को मिलने वाली कर छूट समाप्त कर दी है और पार्टी पर कर लगा दिया है। सूत्रों ने कहा कि जांच एजेंसियों द्वारा छापे के दौरान कांग्रेस के कुछ नेताओं से जब्त की गई डायरियों में की गई ”तीसरे पक्ष की प्रविष्टियों” के लिए भी कांग्रेस पर कर लगाया गया है।
मुख्य विपक्षी दल ने शुक्रवार को कहा था कि उसे आयकर विभाग से नोटिस मिला है, जिसमें करीब 1,823 करोड़ रुपये का भुगतान करने को कहा गया है। कर अधिकारियों ने पिछले वर्षों से संबंधित कर मांग के लिए पार्टी के खातों से 135 करोड़ रुपये पहले ही निकाल लिये हैं। कांग्रेस ने 135 करोड़ रुपये की कर मांग के खिलाफ अदालत का रुख किया है और इस मामले में सोमवार को उच्चतम न्यायालय में सुनवाई होने की संभावना है। पार्टी इस संबंध में आयकर अपीलीय अधिकरण और उच्च न्यायालय से कोई राहत पाने में विफल रही है।
