कांग्रेस ने लोकसभा चुनाव के लिए शुक्रवार को 39 उम्मीदवारों की पहली सूची जारी की, जिसमें सबसे प्रमुख नाम पार्टी के पूर्व अध्यक्ष राहुल गांधी का है, जो एक बार फिर से केरल की वायनाड सीट से चुनाव लड़ेंगे। राहुल गांधी के अलावा इस सूची में कांग्रेस के संगठन महासचिव केसी वेणुगोपाल और छत्तीसगढ़ के पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री भूपेश बघेल समेत कई वरिष्ठ नेताओं के नाम शामिल हैं। वेणुगोपाल केरल की अलप्पुझा और बघेल छत्तीसगढ़ की राजनांदगाव सीट से चुनाव लड़ेंगे।
पार्टी के संगठन महासचिव के सी वेणुगोपाल ने यहां संवाददाता सम्मेलन में इस बारे में जानकारी दी। कांग्रेस उम्मीदवारों की पहली सूची में 15 उम्मीदवार सामान्य वर्ग से और 24 अनुसूचित जाति, अनुसूचित जनजाति, अन्य पिछड़ा वर्ग और अल्पसंख्यक समुदायों से हैं। कांग्रेस की केंद्रीय चुनाव समिति (सीईसी) ने लोकसभा चुनाव के लिए बृहस्पतिवार को छत्तीसगढ़, केरल और कई अन्य राज्यों में करीब 40 सीट के लिये उम्मीदवारों के नाम पर मुहर लगाई थी। कांग्रेस की इस सूची से कुछ दिन पहले भारतीय जनता पार्टी (भाजपा) ने लोकसभा चुनाव के लिए 195 उम्मीदवारों की सूची जारी की थी।
