दिल्ली के पर्यावरण मंत्री गोपाल राय राष्ट्रीय राजधानी के करीब 17,000 पार्क के पुनर्विकास के लिए संबंधित विभागों तथा एजेंसियों के साथ बैठक करेंगे। सरकार इस योजना के तहत पार्क और बगीचों को बनाने तथा उनके रख रखाव और गैर केन्द्रीकृत अपशिष्ट शोधन संयंत्रों के लिए निवासी कल्याण संघ तथा गैर सरकारी संगठनों (एनजीओ) को प्रति एकड़ 2.55 लाख रुपये देगी। एक अधिकारी ने बताया, ऐसे पार्क जिनका रख रखाव नहीं हो रहा है, उनकी पहचान करने के लिए सर्वेक्षण किया जा रहा है। अब तक कम से कम 12,000 पार्क का सर्वेक्षण किया गया है।
प्रायोगिक परियोजना के तौर पर सरकार ज्योति नगर, तीमारपुर, राजेन्द्र नगर और कालकाजी में आदर्श पार्क के तौर पर एक-एक पार्क का पुनर्विकास करेगी। राष्ट्रीय राजधानी में 16,828 पार्क हैं और सरकार उन्हें बिजली, सीसीटीवी कैमरे, शौचालय और पावर बैकअप जैसी सुविधाओं से लैस करना चाहती है। इन पार्क में शिशुओं और बच्चों के खेलने के लिए अलग-अलग स्थान, जिम, बैठने के लिए छायादार स्थान तथा टहलने और जॉगिंग करने के लिए भी स्थान होंगे।
