दिल्ली के उपराज्यपाल वी के सक्सेना ने महापौर का चुनाव कराने के लिए दिल्ली नगर निगम (एमसीडी) सदन के अगले सत्र की बैठक 16 फरवरी को बुलाने की मंजूरी दे दी है। आधिकारिक सूत्रों ने रविवार को यह जानकारी दी। सूत्रों ने बताया कि दिल्ली सरकार ने सदन का 16 फरवरी को सत्र बुलाने के लिए प्रस्ताव भेजा था, जिसे सक्सेना ने स्वीकार कर लिया है।
गौरतलब है कि पिछले एक महीने में एमसीडी सदन की अब तक तीन बैठकें मनोनीत पार्षदों (एल्डरमैन) को मताधिकार देने के फैसले को लेकर हंगामे के बीच महापौर, उपमहापौर और नगर निकाय की स्थायी समिति के चयन के बिना स्थगित हो चुकी हैं। नगर निकाय के दिसंबर में चुनाव के बाद सदन की बैठक पहले छह जनवरी को बुलाई गई थी, लेकिन भारतीय जनता पार्टी (भाजपा) और आम आदमी पार्टी (आप) के बीच तीखी बहस के बाद इसे स्थगित कर दिया गया था।
इसके बाद सदन की दूसरी बैठक 24 जनवरी को हुई थी। उस समय सदन को शपथ ग्रहण समारोह के बाद संक्षिप्त रूप से स्थगित कर दिया गया था और फिर प्रोटेम पीठासीन अधिकारी ने बैठक को कुछ पार्षदों के हंगामे के बीच स्थगित कर दिया था। इसके बाद सदन को पिछले सोमवार को तीसरी बार स्थगित कर दिया गया। आप ने आरोप लगाया है कि महापौर का चुनाव इसलिए नहीं हो सका क्योंकि भाजपा ”लोकतंत्र और भारत के संविधान का गला घोंट रही है”, जबकि भाजपा ने आम आदमी पार्टी पर महापौर के चुनाव को रोकने के लिए बहाने बनाने का आरोप लगाया और उसे गतिरोध के लिए दोषी ठहराया। राष्ट्रीय राजधानी में एमसीडी का चुनाव पिछले साल चार दिसंबर को हुआ था और सात दिसंबर को नतीजे आए थे। ‘आप’ ने 250 में से 134 वार्ड पर जीत हासिल की थी जबकि भाजपा को 104 सीट मिली थीं।
