भाजपा की दिल्ली इकाई के नेताओं ने केंद्रीय गृह मंत्री अमित शाह से मुलाकात की। यह मुलाकात ऐसे दिन हुई, जब उत्तरी दिल्ली नगर निगम ने राजधानी के हिंसा प्रभावित जहांगीरपुरी में अतिक्रमण रोधी अभियान चलाया, जिस पर बाद में उच्चतम न्यायालय ने रोक लगा दी। भाजपा शासित नगर निगम द्वारा चलाए गए इस अतिक्रमण रोधी अभियान के तहत जहांगीरपुरी इलाके में स्थित एक मस्जिद से लगे कई ढांचों को बलुडोजर की मदद से गिरा दिया गया। बाद में उच्चतम न्यायालय ने अतिक्रमण रोधी अभियान पर रोक लगा दी। न्यायालय ने हिंसा के मुस्लिम आरोपियों के मकानों को तोड़े जाने संबंधी जमीयत उलमा-ए-हिंद की याचिका पर संज्ञान लेने के बाद यह आदेश दिया। गौरतलब है कि कुछ दिनों पूर्व ही इस इलाके में सांप्रदायिक हिंसा हुई थी।
शाह से मुलाकात करने वाले भाजपा नेताओं में प्रदेश अध्यक्ष आदेश गुप्ता, विधायक रामवीर सिंह बिधूड़ी, पार्टी के नेता मनजिंदर सिंह सिरसा सहित कुछ अन्य शामिल थे। यह मुलाकात नार्थ ब्लॉक स्थित शाह के कार्यालय में हुई। हालांकि, मुलाकात में शाह से क्या बात हुई, इस बारे में भाजपा नेताओं ने कुछ भी बताने से इनकार कर दिया। अधिकारियों के मुताबिक, भाजपा नेताओं की शाह से चर्चा के दौरान जहांगीरपुरी में अतिक्रमण रोधी अभियान का मुद्दा उठा। दिल्ली के तीनों नगर निगमों में भाजपा का शासन है। हाल में तीनों नगर निगमों का एकीकरण किया गया है।
