राष्ट्रपति द्रौपदी मुर्मू ने मंगलवार को कहा कि लोकतंत्र की जननी के रूप में भारत की यात्रा अनंत गौरवों से भरी हुई है और ऐसे में लोकतंत्र के केंद्र के रूप में संसद में सभी का प्रयास मुश्किल लगने वाले लक्ष्य तय करना और उसे हासिल करने का होना चाहिए। राष्ट्रपति ने बजट सत्र के पहले दिन ऐतिहासिक केंद्रीय कक्ष में संसद के दोनों सदनों की संयुक्त बैठक को संबोधित करते हुए यह बात कही। राष्ट्रपति ने अपने अभिभाषण में कहा, लोकतंत्र की जननी के रूप में भारत की यात्रा अनंत गौरवों से भरी हुई है। हमने लोकतंत्र को एक मानवीय संस्कार के रूप में विकसित, समृद्ध किया है। उन्होंने कहा कि हज़ारों वर्षों के अतीत की तरह ही, आने वाली सदियों में भी भारत मानवीय सभ्यता की अविरल धारा की तरह अनवरत गतिमान रहेगा। मुर्मू ने कहा, भारत का लोकतंत्र समृद्ध था, सशक्त था, और आगे भी सशक्त होता रहेगा । भारत की जीवटता अमर थी, आगे भी अमर रहेगी। भारत का ज्ञान-विज्ञान और अध्यात्म सदियों से विश्व का मार्गदर्शन करता रहा है, और आने वाली सदियों में भी विश्व को इसी तरह राह दिखाएगा।
उन्होंने कहा कि भारत के आदर्श और मूल्य, अंधकार से भरे गुलामी के दौर में भी अक्षुण्ण रहे हैं, और ये आगे भी अक्षुण्ण बने रहेंगे। राष्ट्रपति ने कहा कि एक राष्ट्र के रूप में भारत की पहचान अतीत में भी अमर थी, और भविष्य में भी अमर रहेगी। मुर्मू ने कहा, ”लोकतंत्र के केंद्र, इस संसद में हमारा प्रयास होना चाहिए कि हम मुश्किल लगने वाले लक्ष्य तय करें और उन्हें हासिल करके दिखाएं। जो कल होना है उसे आज पूरा करने की कोशिश करें। जिसे दूसरा कोई आने वाले दिनों में करने के बारे में सोच रहा है उसे हम भारतवासी पहले करके दिखा दें।
उन्होंने सदस्यों का आह्वान करते हुए कहा, आइये, अपने लोकतन्त्र को समृद्ध करते हुए हम उस वेद-वाक्य को आत्मसात करें जिसमें कहा गया है – संगच्छध्वं संवदध्वं सं वो मनांसि जानताम”, जिसका अर्थ है कि हम सब एक साथ कदम से कदम मिलाकर चलें, हमारे संकल्प स्वरों में एकता का प्रवाह हो और हमारे अन्तःकरण एक दूसरे से जुड़े हुए हों। राष्ट्रपति ने सदस्यों से यह भी आह्ववान किया कि राष्ट्र निर्माण के इस महायज्ञ में वे अपने कर्तव्य पथ पर चलते हुए संविधान की शपथ को पूरा करें।
