प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी आसियान-भारत और पूर्वी एशिया शिखर सम्मेलन में भाग लेने के लिए इंडोनेशिया की राजधानी जकार्ता की छह और सात सितंबर को यात्रा करेंगे। विदेश मंत्रालय ने शनिवार को यह जानकारी दी। मोदी 10 देशों के संगठन दक्षिण-पूर्वी एशियाई राष्ट्रों के समूह (आसियान) के नेताओं के साथ चर्चा करेंगे। इस वार्ता के केंद्र में आसियान के साथ भारत के बढ़ते व्यापार और सुरक्षा संबंध के रहने की संभावना है। पिछले साल दोनों पक्षों के बीच संबंधों के व्यापक रणनीतिक साझेदारी तक बढ़ने के बाद यह पहला आसियान-भारत शिखर सम्मेलन होगा।
विदेश मंत्रालय ने अपने बयान में कहा, प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी इंडोनेशिया गणराज्य के राष्ट्रपति जोको विडोडो के आमंत्रण पर छह से सात सितंबर तक जकार्ता की यात्रा करेंगे। इसमें कहा गया कि प्रधानमंत्री 20वें आसियान-भारत शिखर सम्मेल में शामिल होने के साथ 18वीं पूर्वी एशिया शिखर सम्मेलन में हिस्सा लेंगे, जिसकी मेजबानी आसियान के मौजूदा अध्यक्ष के रूप में इंडोनिशया कर रहा है। इसमें कहा गया कि शिखर सम्मेलन भारत-आसियान संबंधों की प्रगति की समीक्षा करेगा और सहयोग के लिए भविष्य की दिशा तय करेगा। आसियान के 10 सदस्य देश इंडोनेशिया, मलेशिया, फिलीपीन, सिंगापुर, थाईलैंड, ब्रुनेई, वियतनाम, लाओस, म्यांमा और कंबोडिया हैं।
