कांग्रेस नेता राहुल गांधी ने शुक्रवार को गुजरात सरकार पर जहरीली शराब त्रासदी पर सवालिया निशान उठाते हुए कहा कि यह बहुत चिंता का विषय है कि राष्ट्रपिता बापू और सरदार पटेल की धरती में ऐसा हो रहा है। राहुल गांधी ने राज्य में सत्तारूढ भारतीय जनता पार्टी (भाजपा) पर इस घटना के पीछे के लोगों को बचाने का आरोप लगाया है। राहुल गांधी ने ट्वीट किया, ये बेहद चिंता की बात है, बापू और सरदार पटेल की धरती पर, ये कौन लोग हैं जो धड़ल्ले से नशे का कारोबार कर रहे हैं? इन माफिया को कौन सी सत्ताधारी ताक़तें संरक्षण दे रही हैं?
कांग्रेस नेता ने कहा, ड्राई स्टेट’ गुजरात में ज़हरीली शराब पीने से कई घर उजड़ गए। वहां लगातार अरबों की ड्रग्स भी बरामद हो रही है। राज्य में जहरील शराब पीने से मरने वालों की संख्या 42 हो गयी है और करीब 95 लोग भावनगर, बोटाड और अहमदाबाद में अभी भी अस्तपाल में भर्ती हैं। उल्लेखनीय है कि बोटाड और अहमदाबाद पुलिस ने मंगलवार को भारतीय दंड संहिता की विभन्नि धाराओं के तहत लगभग 20 दोषियों के खिलाफ तीन प्राथमिकी दर्ज की और उनमें से कम से कम 15 को अब तक गिरफ्तार किया जा चुका है। गुजरात में जहरीली शराब की घटना का खुलासा सोमवार सुबह उस समय हुआ जब बोटाड के रोजिड और उसके आसपास के अन्य गांवों में रहने वाले कुछ लोगों के जहरीली शराब पीने के बाद उनकी हालत बिगडने पर बरवाला क्षेत्र और बोटाड के कस्बों के सरकारी अस्पतालों में उन्हें उपचार के लिए ले जाया गया।
