कांग्रेस की पूर्व अध्यक्ष सोनिया गांधी ने प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी पर तीखा हमला बोलते हुए शनिवार को कहा कि वह खुद को महान मानकर देश और लोकतंत्र की मर्यादा का चीरहरण कर रहे हैं। इसके साथ ही सोनिया गांधी ने कहा, आज हमारे देश का लोकतंत्र खतरे में है। सोनिया गांधी यहां विद्याधर नगर में आयोजित एक चुनावी जनसभा को संबोधित कर रही थीं। उन्होंने कहा, देश के ऊपर हो जाने की बात सपने में भी नहीं सोची जा सकती। क्या कोई देश से बड़ा हो सकता है? जो ऐसा सोचता है उसे देश की जनता सबक सिखा देती है। दुर्भाग्य से आज हमारे देश में ऐसे नेता सत्ता में विराजमान हैं। मोदी जी खुद को महान मानकर देश और लोकतंत्र की मर्यादा का चीरहरण कर रहे हैं।
उन्होंने कहा, विपक्षी नेताओं को डराने धमकाने, भाजपा (भारतीय जनता पार्टी) में शामिल कराने के लिए तरह तरह के हथकंडे अपनाए जा रहे हैं। सोनिया गांधी ने कहा, हमारा देश पिछले दस साल से एक ऐसी सरकार के हवाले है जिसने बेरोजगारी, महंगाई, आर्थिक संकट, असमानता व अत्याचार को बढ़ावा देने में कोई कसर नहीं छोड़ी है। मल्लिकार्जुन खरगे, कांग्रेस नेता प्रियंका गांधी व राजस्थान के पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री अशोक गहलोत भी इस दौरान मौजूद थे।
