गडकरी ने निर्यात बढ़ाने और आयात घटाने की जरूरत पर जोर दिया। उन्होंने कहा, ”हम वैकल्पिक, स्वच्छ और हरित ईंधन मसलन जैव एथनॉल, जैव-सीएनजी, जैव-एलएनजी और हरित हाइड्रोजन के विकास पर काम कर रहे हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि फिलहाल देश का वाहन उद्योग 7.5 लाख करोड़ रुपये का है। वह इसे 15 लाख करोड़ रुपये पर ले जाना चाहते हैं। ”इससे बड़ी संख्या में नए रोजगार पैदा होंगे। उन्होंने कहा कि वह निर्माण की लागत को कम करना चाहते हैं। हम इस्पात और सीमेंट के इस्तेमाल को न्यूनतम करने का प्रयास कर रहे हैं।
