कांग्रेस ने गांधी परिवार द्वारा अपने नाम के साथ नेहरू उपनाम नहीं लगाने से जुड़ी प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी की टिप्पणी को लेकर शुक्रवार को उन पर पलटवार करते हुए कहा कि ऐसी बातें वही व्यक्ति करेगा जिसे भारत की संस्कृति की समझ नहीं है। पार्टी महासचिव रणदीप सुरजेवाला ने सवाल किया कि भारत में कौन व्यक्ति अपने नाम के साथ नाना का उपनाम लगाता है? उन्होंने पार्टी मुख्यालय में संवाददाताओं से कहा, भारत की संस्कृति को नहीं समझने वाला व्यक्ति ही ऐसी बात कर सकता है जो प्रधानमंत्री ने की है।
इस देश में अपने नाना का उपनाम कौन लगाता है? सुरजेवाला ने कहा, अगर उन्हें (मोदी) अपने देश की संस्कृति के बारे में जानकारी नहीं है तो फिर से देश को भगवान ही बचाए। प्रधानमंत्री मोदी ने बृहस्पतिवार को राज्यसभा में गांधी परिवार पर निशाना साधते हुए कहा था कि उन्हें यह बात समझ नहीं आती कि उनकी पीढ़ी का कोई व्यक्ति नेहरू उपनाम रखने से डरता क्यों है? उन्होंने कहा था, क्या शर्मिंदगी है उपनाम रखने में? इतना बड़ा महान व्यक्तित्व अगर आपको मंजूर नहीं है…परिवार को मंजूर नहीं है…और हमारा हिसाब मांगते रहते हो।
