दिल्ली में अतिरिक्त वर्षा होने के कारण इस महीने 24 दिन वायु गुणवत्ता ‘संतोषजनक’ श्रेणी में दर्ज की गयी, जिससे यह शहर के लिए 2015 के बाद से सबसे स्वच्छ वायु वाला महीना बन गया है। केंद्रीय प्रदूषण नियंत्रण बोर्ड (सीपीसीबी) ने 2015 से एक्यूआई आंकड़ा जुटाना शुरू किया था। इस साल जुलाई में औसत एक्यूआई 87 रहा। इससे पहले जुलाई 2020 में एक्यूआई 84 रहा था, जब शहर में कोविड-19 को फैलने से रोकने के लिए सख्त लॉकडाउन लगाए जाने के कारण प्रदूषण स्तर में गिरावट दर्ज की गयी थी। दिल्ली में जुलाई 2020 में 25 ‘संतोषजनक’, चार ‘मध्यम’ और दो ‘खराब’ वायु गुणवत्ता वाले दिन दर्ज किए गए थे।
गौरतलब है कि शून्य से 50 के बीच एक्यूआई को ‘अच्छा’, 51 से 100 के बीच ‘संतोषजनक’, 101 से 200 को ‘मध्यम’, 201 से 300 को ‘खराब’, 301 से 400 के बीच ‘बहुत खराब’ तथा 401 से 500 के बीच एक्यूआई को ‘गंभीर’ माना जाता है। राष्ट्रीय राजधानी में इस जुलाई में एक भी दिन खराब, बहुत खराब या गंभीर वायु गुणवत्ता दर्ज नहीं की गयी। सीपीसीबी के आंकड़ों के अनुसार, शहर में 2021 में 100, 2019 में 134, 2018 में 104, 2017 में 100, 2016 में 144 और 2015 में 138 एक्यूआई दर्ज किया गया। दिल्ली के प्रमुख मौसम केंद्र सफदरजंग वेधशाला ने इस महीने 19 दिन वर्षा दर्ज की, जो कम से कम एक दशक में सर्वाधिक है। दिल्ली में अतिरिक्त वर्षा के कारण इस महीने अधिकतम तापमान में गिरावट भी दर्ज की गयी। औसतन अधिकतम तापमान 35.36 डिग्री सेल्सियस दर्ज किया गया, जो 2017 के बाद से सबसे कम है।
