राष्ट्रीय राजधानी में जल संकट के मद्देनजर दिल्ली जल बोर्ड के उपाध्यक्ष सौरभ भारद्वाज ने शुक्रवार को हरियाणा सरकार से दिल्ली के हिस्से का पानी यमुना नदी में छोड़ने का आग्रह किया। भारद्वाज ने दावा किया कि हरियाणा सरकार ने यमुना नगर में स्थित ताजेवाला बांध से पानी छोड़ना बंद कर दिया है, जहां से दिल्ली को प्रतिदिन 100 मिलियन गैलन पानी की आपूर्ति की जाती है।
उन्होंने कहा कि यमुना दिल्ली में आठ फुट नीचे बह रही है और जल स्तर पहले ही 7.5 फुट कम हो गया है। उन्होंने कहा कि दिल्ली में पिछले दो दिनों में पीने के पानी का संकट और गहरा गया है। बोर्ड के अनुसार वजीराबाद जलाशय में जलस्तर कम होकर 667 फुट पर पहुंच गया है जो आम तौर पर 674.5 फुट होता है। दिल्ली को प्रतिदिन 1200 एमजीडी पानी की जरूरत होती है जबकि दिल्ली जल बोर्ड 1000 एमजीडी जलापूर्ति करता है।
