केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने दिल्ली में तीन नगर निगमों का एकीकरण करने संबंधी विधेयक को मंगलवार को मंजूरी प्रदान कर दी। सरकारी सूत्रों ने यह जानकारी दी। सूत्रों ने बताया कि दिल्ली नगर निगम संशोधन विधेयक संसद के चालू बजट सत्र में पेश किया जा सकता है। उन्होंने बताया कि एकीकृत नगर निगम पूरी तरह से सम्पन्न निकाय होगा और इसमें वित्तीय संसाधनों का सम विभाजन होगा जिससे तीन नगर निगमों के कामकाज को लेकर व्यय एवं खर्च की देनदारियां कम होंगी तथा राष्ट्रीय राजधानी क्षेत्र में नगर निकाय की सेवाएं बेहतर होंगी।
इसके तहत 1957 के मूल अधिनियम में भी कुछ और संशोधनों को मंजूरी दी गई है ताकि वृहद पारदर्शिता, बेहतर प्रशासन और दिल्ली के लोगों के लिये प्रभावी सेवाओं को लेकर ठोस आपूर्ति ढांचा सुनिश्चित किया जा सके। इस संशोधन के माध्यम से वर्तमान तीन नगर निगमों को एक एकीकृत नगर निगम में समाहित किया जायेगा। गौरतलब है कि वर्ष 2011 में पूर्ववर्ती दिल्ली नगर निगम को तीन भागों …दक्षिण दिल्ली नगर निगम, उत्तरी दिल्ली नगर निगम और पूर्वी दिल्ली नगर निगम में विभाजित किया गया था।
